Proof It Works

The conversion of pollutants by BOYSEN® KNOxOUT™ has been proven through trials conducted in The Philippines and London.

Makati MRT Station Trial, Manila, Philippines

Together with Cristal™ and the Manila Observatory, Pacific Paint (BOYSEN®) Philippines, Inc. conducted the world’s largest depolluting paint trial to date at an urban rail transit station along the busiest avenue in Metro Manila. The trial involved the installation of NO2 sensors in 19 monitoring locations and painting over 6,200 square meters with close to 700 liters of KNOxOUT™.

As a result of this testing, it was gathered that with a total exterior painted area of 4,100 m2, up to 0.44g of NO2 was removed per m2 per day. This information is comparable to the fact that 1 mature tree filters 0.42g NOper day.

In collaboration with King's College London Environmental Research Group, a test was conducted. The area is declared an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA). Despite traffic control initiatives, the area continues to exceed UK air quality standards.

Monitored from 2007 to 2010, measurements of NO2 and NO were taken every 15 minutes. A total reduction of 20%-50% of NO2 and NO was recorded.

In collaboration with the City of London Council, a test was conducted using a painted surface of 300m2. Starting with 6 months of background pollution monitoring, the project involved background and roadside monitors, diffusion tubes & nitrate measurements.

With Imperial College and AUTh handling modelling & monitoring, the results showed that the wall cleaned the emissions of about 2,000 passing cars every day.
